Valentine’s Weekend

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday (on February 14th, for those of you who had forgotten). That’s not the best night to go out and get romantic, so many people will be celebrating over the weekend instead. Singletons had better beware, as the city will be overflowing with loved up couples getting mushy - it’s the one time of year that the British put away their conservative views and bring on the public displays of affection!

If you want to do something special for your other half, London is the place to do it; there are more choices than you can shake a box of heart shaped candies at. Most restaurants put on something extra for Valentine’s when you book a table for two; Gilgamesh will be hiding a real diamond in one of their pink martinis, The Cuban is offering packages that include chocolates, a red rose and pink fizz, and many places have a special set menu for the evening. Many couples are trying something a bit different this year too; there are cabaret nights where you can watch some sexy burlesque, some will be heading to the London Eye for views across the city, and some will try a bit of wine tasting. Be creative! In a place with so much going on, Valentine’s Day can be so much more than cards and bouquets. One great event will be the Cupid’s Ball at Cafe de Paris ; take a Piccadilly Circus taxi here for a night of opulaent glamour, music and dancing. To be on the safe side, you should book one of the minicabs in Piccadilly Circus in advance, just to make sure everything runs smoothly!

Singles needn’t despair this weekend - you can still celebrate this event. In fact, there are sure to be some people in relationships who are envious of your position! It’s always fun to send an anonymous card to whomever you secretly admire. Even if this is a habit you grew out of in Primary School, you could make someone’s day! If there’s nobody you’ve got your eye on, get together with some friends to have fun this weekend. Girls can pamper at a luxurious spa day, guys can get together for some drinks in their favourite bar. If you’re looking to meet someone, there are plenty of speed dating and singles nights running in the capital - get involved!
