Friday Night Film Frenzy
It’s nice to go and watch a film at the cinema on Friday night. A fun, relaxed evening that’s great for the whole family, complete with popcorn and sugary goodness. But wait - what’s that? Today’s the release date of the latest ‘Twilight’ installment, ‘Breaking Dawn - part 1’? Bang goes your leisurely evening in London! You’d better prepare yourself for thousands of screaming girls queuing around the block to be the very first viewers from the general public.
After the success of Stephanie Meyer’s series of vampire-romance books, the Twilight franchise has become huge. Girls are divided into camps supporting ‘Edward’ or ‘Jacob’ the supernatural leading males in the story; it’s likely there will be some t-shirts declaring this allegiance later on! Leicester Square minicabs will be busy taking excited fans to The Odeon, The Empire and Vue cinemas, so expect the roads to be even more busy than usual.
This fourth installment is only half of the final book; as they did with Harry Potter, they’re planning to cash in as much as possible by making two films of it! In this one, we finally see Edward and Bella tie the knot, which the traditional vampire has been hankering after ever since they fell in love. Once they’re officially betrothed, we actually get to see them 'be intimate' - what we've all been waiting for, if we're honest! The tension between them has been dragged out as much as possible, so most of us are plain relieved. Unfortunately for our frisky human Bella, this leads to an accelerated pregnancy of half-vampire spawn crushing her from within the womb. Nice. If that doesn’t make you use contraception, nothing will.
The film has had very mixed reviews; whilst some critics are highly unimpressed, the legions of devoted fans will ensure that this release is a big a success as its predecessors.
