Silent Cinema at The Deptford Project

We never get bored of London; there’s always something new and different to do! In a previous blog, we had told you about Secret Cinema - an exciting and interactive way to experience film. Now, The Deptford Project has put a different twist on movies: Silent Cinema. With viewers wearing wireless headphones, it’s the same idea as a ‘Silent Disco’ - anyone without the headphones would hear nothing but the squeals from the audience!

With an urban outdoor location in previously disused railway arches, you can join other movie lovers for just £10 per person. This month, Silent Cinema will be showing a range of creepy horror films that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! They are also showing cult classics and so some of your favourite 80s blockbusters. The whole set up has been created by innovative designers, making arm chairs out of wooden crates and cushions from funky textile designers.

As well as finding the cinema screen there, you can visit the cute railway carriage cafe on site to get a drink or a snack. It really adds to the atmosphere - you’ll forget that you’re in a bustling capital city and be transported back to simpler times! There will also be a barbecue going every night that there’s a film showing - bonus!

The Deptford Project is based outside central London in SE8; instead of struggling with public transport, book a taxi online to get there. London cabs are fast and efficient, dropping you right at the door of the Deptford Project. If you’d rather contact a London cab office directly, we have a facility for that too.
