Hyper Japan London
Brick Lane in East London is never dull. Whether you go for the Sunday markets, the famous strip of Indian curry houses, the legendary 24 hour Beigel Shop or the eclectic mix of bars, you’re sure to have a great time. One great venue you’ll find half way down the street is the Truman Brewery; what was once the largest brewery in London now hosts arts and media events, market stalls, exhibitions, plus businesses and retail shops of all kinds. Quite the transformation!
This weekend, you’ll see a whole new side to Brick Lane with the arrival of the Hyper Japan London Festival. It gives a whole new meaning to ‘East’ London! From Friday 1 October until 3 October, you can immerse yourself in Japanese culture for the small fee of £5.00 - £8.00. It’s much cheaper than going to Japan, and saves you getting a taxi to the airport! Inside the Truman Brewery, you’ll be able to sample Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, drink sake and green tea, and participate in some traditional and popular events from the advanced country.
This is a must see for Japan-fans; you can see fashion shows and buy items to dress like a harajuku girl, watch the Carnival of Cosplay in wonder as you get involved in the high tech computer games, take classes in anime drawing and learn more about manga. It’s a huge and diverse collection that anyone would enjoy - just prepare yourself for a colour explosion! There are also workshops and demonstrations happening all day, plus seminars to attend if you want some deeper knowledge.
Getting there will be easy if you book a cab; it’s a bit of a walk from the nearest Underground stations and there’s no access for buses down Brick Lane. Catch Japan while you can!
