Calling All London Fashionistas...

Can you feel the anticipation in the air? This week there’s a palpable excitement amongst designers, models, magazine editors, make-up artists and hair stylists, photographers and all lovers of fashion, as London Fashion Week (LFW) draws closer. Gearing up for catwalks and store openings to exhibitions and after show parties, this is the time of year when the beautiful people congregate and lead the way for what we’ll all be wearing next season.

Although not many of us get the privilege of sitting in the front row at a designer runway show, it’s still fun to get involved and keep up with the buzz that will take over the city from Friday 18th February until Wednesday 23rd February. The Autumn/Winter 2011 collections will be showcasing over this period, attracting lots of media coverage. Expect to see your glossy magazines and TV stations saturated with new trends, must-have accessories and whichever colour is the new black (but make sure you know which one of the eight near identical shades is the right one, otherwise you’ll become a fashion leper. . . Just kidding.).

Certain bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels are affiliated with London Fashion Week, so this is where you get the chance to join in some of the action. Check out the list on the official website for fashionista hot spots, and you’ll find that some are open to the public during the week. As you’ll see on the site, the official LFW hotel this year is the May Fair, so you’d better have deep pockets! Make sure that wherever you go, you arrive in style; Westminster taxis are available around the clock to chauffeur you to events. You can request one of the luxury minicabs Westminster has to offer, making you look the part.

Not everyone in London is into fashion, and there will be plenty of people deliberately avoiding these types of events and the media darlings they inevitable attract. Luckily, London’s big enough for the both of you!
