London Film Festival
This fortnight, the capital is celebrating some of the best films from around the world at London Film Festival. It’s an exciting time not only for cinema lovers, but also for everyone in the film industry; actors, directors, producers, script writers, sound and lighting specialists, make up artists (to name a few key roles)... it’s baffling how much hard work goes into a production! Thanks to them, the rest of us can enjoy incredible, evocative films that move us, lift our mood and give out important messages. On top of that, they’re great fun to watch.
Running from 13- 28 October, this is the 54th year that the Film Festival has been taking place in London, and it’s still going strong. The Odeon in Leicester Square announced the line up, which includes everything from small independent films to big budget productions. The final film will be 127 Days from the celebrated director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), which stars James Franco; you might have seen him in the recent Spiderman movies, or maybe you spotted him looking buff in the Gucci television ad!
This month is packed full of special screenings, showing classic films as well as new ones at cinemas around London. You don’t have to be in Leicester Square to enjoy the best films; you can book a taxi in Camden to go to the cinema in North London, or take a London cab to one of the larger venues with special screenings. London cabs have been pretty busy going to and from cinemas recently!
The London Film Festival not only gives people a chance to show their work, but it also reignites our passion for the art of film, helping us remember that there’s more than Hollywood blockbusters. Try to make one of the screenings before the festival finishes on the 28th - there’s a big enough selection to suit everyone.
