London Fashion Week, Anyone?

Brace yourself, folks: the glitterati will be out in force this week. This time of year always seems to come around so quickly, awaking that inner shopping addict that I’ve tried so hard to lull to sleep! London Fashion Week attracts the top people in the industry from all over the world; designers, models, magazine editors and celebrities. Even if you have no interest in the latest trends, you’ll find it hard to avoid the buzz throughout the city. All the swankiest bars and nightclubs will be hosting exclusive parties, with something related taking place every day until 20 September. If you’re lucky, you might be able to get your name on a nightclub guest list (but be prepared to pay a fortune for drinks). If you’re really lucky, you’ll know someone who can get you into an A-List party with an open bar! Why is it always the rich people who get free stuff?

As well as countless parties, London will be hosting plenty catwalk shows for recognisable names such as Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, Mulberry and Paul Smith. There will also be pop-up shops and exhibitions to browse, with budgets ranging from quite-affordable to not-in-your-wildest-dreams. If you are into your designer labels, make sure you reign in your lust a little bit; the vendors don’t appreciate customers salivating on their merchandise!

If you do manage to get into one of the after-show parties at London Fashion Week, make sure you book a nice London minicab to drop you off. It might not be as luxurious as a limousine, but it’s much more glamorous than taking the tube or trying to totter all the way to the venue in your 6 inch heels. Believe me, I’ve tried! If you can ask the driver to open the door for you as you arrive, you’ll look even more fabulous and important.

The other option is to hole yourself up at home for the week watching DVD box sets and ordering Chinese Takeaway. You need never know that Fashion Week has descended upon us! As much as I love a good pair of Louboutins, the hibernation actually sounds pretty appealing...
