Somerset House Summer Films

Sometimes, you feel like doing something a little bit different. London is full of historic sights and tourist attractions, but if you've seen them all before, you might want something else to entertain you. Why not put a twist on one of your favourite activities, at the same time as taking advantage of the fine summer weather?

Somerset House will soon be starting it's film season, opening their Summer Screen from 29th July until 8th August. This is a fun night out in the open air, great to take along your other half or a group of friends. A yummy range of seasonal food and drink is served in the courtyard, complete with a fully licensed bar and coffee on site.

The evening kicks off with a live DJ from 7.30pm, and the films are screened at 9.15pm so make sure you have your transport home organised - it's wise to book a London cab to pick you up at the end of the night. The screenings go ahead regardless of the unpredictable weather; you know the old saying... "Come rain or come shine"! None of the courtyard area is covered, so you might want to check the weather forecast before you go. Hopefully you won't be needing a raincoat.

There isn't any seating in the Edmond J. Safra courtyard at Somerset House, so if you won't want to sit directly on the stone paved floor, it's a good idea to bring some blankets and cushions with you. It will be just like an old drive in movie (minus the car), putting a whole different angle on your cinematic experience. No furniture is allowed, but you can take a picnic to enjoy while you're there. There's also a selection of old classics and brand new films showing over the 10 days so you can choose whichever you like and book online. The new film 'Knight and Day' starring Hollywood A Listers Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz will be premièring at Somerset House, as well as James Bond classic 'Goldfinger' and chilling horror 'Let the Right One In'. Something for everyone!

We think that everything's easier when you book online; your cinema tickets, your take away food order and of course, your London taxi. What a relief that booking a cab in London is now just as simple as everything else!
