Shoreditch Festival
Are you looking for a fun, free day out in London? The museums and art galleries might be open all year round, but sometimes you want something a bit different. Shoreditch Festival is an annual event that’s great for all ages, and it’s happening this weekend! You don’t have to pay a penny to attend, and the whole family will be kept entertained from morning until night.
You can book a London taxi to get there easily; Shoreditch is easily accessible from the rest of London if you book a cab online . When you get there, you’ll instantly feel the colourful, arty vibe that Shoreditch is renowned for. Full of flamboyant fashion students, designers and artists, musicians and actors, this area is a Mecca for media darlings. Here you’ll see some very eye catching outfits with creative flair.
The event takes place in Shoreditch Park on New North Road and is organised by the Shoreditch Trust. Things kick off on Friday 16th July with a performance from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ; if you haven’t seen them before, it’s a great experience featuring some of the most talented musicians in the UK. The picnic area is open from 6pm, and the Orchestra will start at 7.30pm. Taking along your own picnic is a fun way to save even more money; hopefully the weather will be fine, so you can sit on a blanket and enjoy your favourite foods as the music plays. The night will end with a spectacular fireworks display - this is not to be missed!
Saturday will have a more festival feeling with many bands taking to the stage. It’s a showcase of up and coming talent, split between the main stage and the dance stage. As if that wasn’t enough, there will also be films showing on a big screen, various stalls and even a dog show! I’d say there’s something for everyone.
On Sunday, you can see The Guildhall School of Music and Drama collaberate with the Barbican Centre and Shoreditch Trust to bring you ‘World In Motion’; an exciting combination of dance, film, music and fashion.
Whether you just go to one of the days or to all three, you’ll have a great time in Shoreditch this weekend. It’s an eclectic mix to suit all ages, so grab your other half or your friends, book a taxi and get yourself down there!
