Hitting the Beach in the UK

Sadly, not all of us can afford to go abroad on holiday this summer. Ideally, we’d be relaxing on a tropical beach somewhere, with white sand beneath our toes and clear blue skies overhead. Instead, we’re taking a trip to the coast and chancing the unpredictable British weather to visit a UK beach!

There are some beaches around Great Britain that aren’t overly desirable; pebbles, grey skies and mud or clay don’t leave you with the fondest memories. Some are not very well maintained, and some even pose a danger to children. However, there are plenty of great beaches in the UK if you know where to go; don’t despair! We’ve compiled a list of our favourites to give you a few suggestions:

For those of you with families, head down to Blackpool Sands beach in Devon (not in Blackpool!). It’s privately owned and beautifully maintained. During the summer season there are lifeguards on duty so it will be safe for your children to play, and there’s even a collection point for lost children. The only downfall is the pebbles, but to combat this they have added a sand stretch and also a freshwater paddling pool for the little ones.

If soft sand is important for you and your sun worshipping, try Camber Sands beach in Kent. The South East does see its fair share of warm weather in the summer, and this two mile stretch of golden sand gives you a great opportunity to soak it up. There are also plenty of different activities available for those who can’t sit still all day, such as buggy surfing and horse riding.

If you want to get even further away from London, head to Northumberland and visit Bamburgh beach. It is overlooked by Bamburgh castle, so even looking inland gives you an impressive sight! The sand dunes should give you some protection against the wind, and the beach is sandy. It’s a lovely area to visit, and the beach here is one of the highlights.

If you are lucky enough to be going abroad, you can use Tick Tock Taxi to book your airport transfer from London. You’ll get the cheapest quote and a local company, so that they can be at your front door as soon as possible. Booking a cab in London has never been easier, so make sure you don’t you forget it!
