Queensway Useful Infromation
Queensway is the name of a road in London, found in the district of Bayswater. Formerly called ‘Queen’s Road’, it is a shopper’s paradise! This bustling street is an ideal place to go out, day or night. Not only does the central location make it easy to get to from anywhere in London, but it’s got something for everyone. The road is full of bars, restaurants, market stalls and high street stores; you’ll also find several letting agencies and residential properties here.
To get to Queensway is simple; you can either take the tube from London Underground stations at Queensway on the Central line (the red one) or Bayswater on the Circle and District lines (yellow and green). The tube maps can be a little complicated if you’re new to the city, but there are usually some staff around who will be happy to point you in the right direction. One word of warning: if you board during busy peak hours (about 7.30-9.30am and 5.00-7.00pm), you’re likely to get pretty squashed! Many people prefer to take Queensway taxis at this time instead; a minicab in Queensway will know all the quickest routes, and will allow you to travel in comfort. As well as Queensway cabs, there are also buses to other areas of London.
If you’re eating out here, you’ll find that the majority of the restaurants serve Arab, Chinese and Mediterranean cuisine. Places like this are perfect for either a light bite to eat at lunch time (to revive you for even more shopping!) or for an evening meal with family, friends or that special someone. The whole area is geared towards leisure activities, especially since the redevelopment of the Queen’s Ice & Bowl, the biggest ice rink in London. It has become a centre for entertainment, attracting people from all over the city.
If you’re planning on visiting Queensway and you need somewhere to stay, there are quite a few hotels available, from mid-range prices to luxury accommodation. Look out for offers on the internet; last minute or far in advance bookings may offer a huge discount, which will give you more money to spend in Whiteley’s Shopping Centre at the North end of the street! Book a Queensway cab to get you there, and to help you back with all your heavy bags.
