Parsons Green Useful Information
Parsons Green might sound like a quaint countryside village, but it’s actually an area in London. Situatied in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, this primarily residential area is becoming an increasingly popular place to live. Property prices are not quite as high as they are in neighbouring Chelsea, but they are still fairly expensive; a terraced house would set you back by about £650,000, and one of the Edwardian semi-detached properties could fetch up to £4 million. Wouldn’t that be nice!
For those of you who are just visiting, there is some reasonably priced accommodation scattered around the area. For a budget hotel, you could try Jurys Inn Chelsea on Imperial Road; it’s about 15 minutes walk from the station. The Millennium and Copthorne Hotels at Stamford Bridge are also close by, which are from a trustworthy chain of hotels. This one is especially convenient for football fans who want to be close to Chelsea Football Club.
Parsons Green has its own tube station on the District Line, on the Wimbledon branch. London Underground is a cheap and fast way to get around the city, and is favoured by thousands of Londoners every day. Be warned though, the trains can get very busy during rush hour! You might find your face pressed up against the window and an elbow in your back. To avoid the crush, you could book a taxi in Parsons Green instead. Cab drivers here know the area well, and will be able to take you wherever you need to go on the most direct route. Many residents take Parsons Green minicabs into the city rather than taking the bus or the tube.
There is a triangular park here which is also called Parsons Green. Every summer, locals hold a ‘Fair on the Green’, which has free admittance and gives you the chance to see live music, magicians, fire eaters and dancers. There are food and craft stalls, as well as a bouncy castle. It’s a great day out for the family, so look out for it. For the rest of the year, you can take advantage of nearby bars, pubs and restaurants. Parsons Green taxis are only a phone call away if you end up having a few too many! You can stick to familiar chains like Pitcher and Piano, or try somewhere different like Amuse Bouche; this champagne bar is very stylish, and serves its food in minature. You’ll find it on Parsons Green Lane.
