Mornington Crescent Useful Information
You may be more familiar with Mornington Crescent from the game of the same name played by contestants on BBC Radio 4’s panel show I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, but it is of course more properly a station on the London Underground’s Northern Line, between Camden Town and Euston stations. Luckily, getting a taxi from Mornington Crescent is nowhere near as complicated or convoluted as the game rules of its namesake, and in fact a Mornington Crescent taxi driver can take you quickly and easily to a variety of nearby locations in North London without having to worry yourself about the finer details of Tudor Court Rules!
Being situated so close to both Euston and Camden, Mornington Crescent is ideally situated for a short NW1 taxi ride to the British Library, which contains over fourteen million books; more than enough to keep an avid reader occupied on a rainy day! The British Library is certainly a great place to visit if you have research to do, but it also features regular temporary and permanent exhibitions, including very interesting displays devoted to the Magna Carta and the history of the English language.
There are other museums in the vicinity which you could also reach easily from Mornington Crescent courtesy of a taxi in NW1, including the Jewish Museum, for those with an interest in the history or theology of one of the oldest of the remaining Abrahamic religions, and the Wellcome Collection, an art gallery which specialises in unusual exhibitions and collections focused on art related to medical and scientific knowledge or history. If the subject of medicine piques your interest, you might also be interested in visiting the Royal Veterinary College and its Museum of Veterinary History.
Of course, Mornington Crescent is also in relatively close proximity to Camden Town, which makes it a great station to use as an alternative to the busy Camden Town Station when visiting this vibrant and trendy part of North London. Camden Market is a great place to visit if you’re looking to buy any type of sub-culture clothing, be it goth, fluffy, cyber, punk or something altogether more unusual that takes your fancy, and sports all manner of small craft and jewelery shops to augment your look too! And if you’re in need of some food in the middle of the day, the Camden Market food court is chock full of stalls offering fast food from all over the world, from Chinese-style noodles, to Italian-style pizzas, through to French crêpes and all sorts of other delicious delicacies!
