Lambeth Useful Information
You will find the London Borough of Lambeth on the south side of the city. The civic centre is Brixton, which has a station at the end of the Victoria line on the London Underground. This makes it very easy to take public transport into the centre of London, along with a regular bus service and taxis in Lambeth operating 24/7. You can also get to Vauxhall on this line (another main shopping area), or to Clapham on the Northern Line.
Lambeth is the most densely populated Inner-London Borough; you’ll notice how busy many of the towns here are on a daily basis. Just like the rest of the city, there is a fast pace of life in this district -- everyone is always busy, rushing about to keep up with their routines. One of the reasons that Lambeth taxis are so popular is because it gives you a chance to escape the hustle and bustle during your journey. This is a real luxury during rush hour; public transport is cheap and convenient, but at times you can feel like you’re squashed in a tin of sardines!
However, don’t be put off; Lambeth is not all hectic. There are some lovely peaceful spots, such as the park and the Lido in Brockwell, and Streatham Common. These green spaces can be a haven when you need to get away from it all.
London Waterloo is situated in this district, and has some of the most famous landmarks in the capital. The London Eye is on the riverbank, and can be seen for miles around; if you’re a visitor in the city, this is a great way to take in all the sights -- hire a pod with your friends and get a bird’s eye view of London! Along South Bank, there is the Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery and the National Theatre. This makes it a very popular tourist spot, but also a favourite with the locals.
Lambeth varies greatly depending on which part of the district you’re in, but you will always find plenty of things to do. There are a huge range of restaurants serving cuisine from around the world, various bars and clubs as well as traditional pubs. There are shopping areas for lovers of retail, and The Oval Cricket Ground for sport fans. Whatever your preferred destination is, don’t forget to book a Lambeth minicab to complete your journey -- it makes getting around London so much easier!
