Hammersmith Useful Information
Based in West London, Hammersmith has grown more and more popular over the years. It’s ideally situated between central London and Heathrow Airport with plenty of transport links, making it the perfect location for commuters. It’s one of the city’s major employment centres with plenty of multinational companies based here, so job opportunities are a big lure to the area. It’s great news for Hammersmith cab services who are kept in busy by all the business people there!
One of the major attractions is the Hammersmith Apollo. People come from all over the country to watch the top names in music and comedy perform on the famous stage, in a venue that holds more than 8000 people. You might have seen it on CD and DVD releases, when artists perform “Live at the Apollo” - so famous is the name that it’s a credit to be associated with the venue. Hammersmith cabs are used to driving to and from the Apollo; it’s a well known location for all London taxis.
The former BBC studios are also a very popular draw; now called the Riverside Studios, it’s a bar, cafe, music venue and cinema. Great for creative and bohemian types, the performance space is definitely worth a visit. If you were hoping to go to the famous nightclub ‘Hammersmith Palais’, we’re afraid you’re too late; this is now being demolished after a long and successful run. A taxi in W6 could make some other suggestions of where to visit if you're feeling a bit clueless.
Hammersmith is full of all the amenities you could want for. Restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, shops, supermarkets... as one of the recognised centres of London, it’s like a mini town in itself. Whether you’re local or just visiting, we highly recommend booking a W6 taxi in Hammersmith to get around. The public transport can become very crowded, especially during rush hour - something we’d much rather avoid!
If you’ve never gotten a W6 cab to Hammersmith, it’s definitely worth seeing. Neighbouring Shepherds Bush and Fulham, the vibrant and bustling community will make you feel welcome while you explore this important part of London.
