If you’re unfamiliar with London history and geography, you might be a little confused by Farringdon. First of all there’s the train station that goes by that name in Clerkenwell, the London Borough of Islington, and also the surrounding area. A bit further south is the historic area in the City of London, which was the original Farringdon. To further your confusion, you may hear references to ‘Farringdon Within’ and ‘Farringdon Without’; these two wards were split back in 1394, according to whether the area fell inside or outside the London Wall.
