Euston Station Usefull Information
In the London Borough of Camden, you’ll find Euston Station; one of the main railway stations in the city managed by Network Rail. It’s just a short walk from Kings Cross St Pancras, and very centrally located. There are easy transport links to the rest of the city, including a connected London Underground station, bus services and London Euston station taxis operating around the clock. It’s also easy to walk to many popular destinations from here, such as Russell Square, Camden Town and even the West End if you don’t mind walking for 20 minutes.
Euston was London’s first inter-city railway station, though you might not guess as it is built in the international modern style. It opened in 1837, with only two platforms (one for arrivals, one for departures). Today, there are 18 platforms serving destinations around the UK. The original building was demolished in 1961 (to much public outcry) because it was no longer deemed suitable; only a couple of original features were kept in the new building.
One of the good things about Euston is that it has its own car park with over 200 spaces, despite being based right in the centre of London. This is very useful for those who commute out of the city on a regular basis; for more occasional trips, it may be more cost effective to book a taxi to Euston Station. Euston Station minicabs are kept very busy with the constant flow of people travelling daily to and from the railway terminal - many opt for this method of transport over bus or tube services because it is more quick and efficient, and means you don’t have to battle the crowds to carry heavy bags and luggage.
Another bonus is that the waiting area is under cover, so you’ll be protected from the elements if you have to wait a while for your train. There are also plenty of shops inside, such as Boots, Marks and Spencers and WH Smith. These are particularly useful if you need to get some food or drink, or perhaps you forgot to pack something essential in your luggage. If you have some time to kill, there are also a couple of pubs that serve food and alcoholic beverages, which provide a nice setting to wait in. They can also be useful meeting points when the station is busy, which is most of the time!
Make sure you book a Euston Station cab if you want to make your journey as hassle free as possible; it really takes the stress out of travelling.
