Clapham Useful Information
Clapham is a lively district in South London, in the borough of Lambeth. It’s mainly an SW4 postcode area, but parts of it also cover SW8, SW9 and SW12 too. One of the first things you’ll notice when you visit the area is the vast expanse of green in Clapham Common. This is a very popular destination for Londoners during the summer months, who congregate here to socialise and enjoy the sunshine. Another great thing about Clapham is the quaint high street; it’s very vibrant, with a village-like feel to distinguish it from the rest of the city. Along here, you’ll find plenty of shops and bars; there are also several other shopping areas dotted around the district.
There are several transport options to and from here. The Northern Line serves three London Underground stations: Clapham Common, Clapham North and Clapham South. Tubes run from about 6am until around mindnight every day, at regular intervals - however, be prepared for how busy it can get during rush hour! There are also railway stations at Clapham High Street and Clapham Junction, with services running to other London destinations and outside of the city. Buses run regularly in the district, with route and time information listed at each bus stop. If navigating your way around via public transport doesn’t appeal to you, you can book a Clapham taxi in SW4 at any time. The minicabs Clapham has to offer run a cheap and reliable service, which explains why they’re so popular amongst both locals and tourists.
What was once a quiet suburb has now become a very fashionable place to live. There are enough bars, clubs and restaurants to keep you occupied every night of the week if you wish, and a varied community of different ages. One of the major selling points is how easy it is to commute from here into the city centre or to the south of England. If you’re looking for alternative transport to an airport, trains run from here to Heathrow and Gatwick. Of course, it’s easy to book Heathrow minicabs and Gatwick taxis from Clapham.
If you’re visiting the area, there are plenty of hotels and B&Bs available with varying prices; it’s a great choice of location if you want to stay outside the city centre, but still close enough for a short commute around the city. Wherever you fancy going, SW4 minicabs in Clapham will be able to take you there. With such a big city, it will take you a while to see everything that there is to see... but there’s no better place to start than Clapham!
